The Japanese hanten is a traditional cloak that has survived the centuries and remained relevant today. The Japanese wore it over a period kimono during the Edo period (1600-1800). Unlike the kimono, the hanten is not reserved for the bourgeoisie - it can be worn by everyone. Lined with a wadded cotton layer, this Japanese coat is ideal for the autumn and winter seasons. It'll keep you warm and stylish in 100% Japanese style. It has a short, slim fit to suit all outfits.
The wave pattern printed on this Japanese overcoat is called seigaiha, which translates as 'blue ocean waves'. This motif has long been used in Egypt, Persia and around the world. It symbolises prosperity, luck and peace. In Japan, it is frequently found on eco-friendly cloth packaging (furoshiki).
